What Buddy is for
Buddy is NYT’s in-game helper. The useful idea is personalization: the hint is supposed to notice your gaps, not recite a generic prefix list at everyone. Two players on the same hive can get different nudges because they have found different stems. That is the opposite of a public answers blog, and it is also different from a public two-letter grid that looks the same for every visitor.
We will not screenshot their UI or restate their paywall. Feature names, placement, and whether Buddy is free on a given day change. Check the official game. This article’s job is disambiguation for people who typed “spelling bee buddy personalized hints” and landed next to unofficial tools.
What our hints are for
Our hints are structural. A two-letter tally says how many valid words begin with each pair (BE, RE, UN…). Word counts tell you how far you are from Genius without naming the leftovers. Pangram tools on a separate URL can give length or a reveal when you ask. None of that watches your personal found-word list inside NYT’s client.
That is a feature, not a missing login. A public tally cannot leak your progress to a roommate looking over your shoulder the way a personalized pane might. It also cannot say “you specifically missed the UN- branch.” You have to run that experiment yourself — which is closer to how a lot of players want to play.

Do not paste Buddy text into a group chat while friends are mid-puzzle. The same rule applies to our tally: share “RE is a fat pair,” not a word.
