Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
1. Who we are
Spelling Bee Hub (sbeehub.com) publishes unofficial NYT Spelling Bee hints, answers, tools, and guides. We are not affiliated with The New York Times Company. Questions about this policy: contact us or use the form below (processed by our server-side contact.php handler).
2. Information we collect
Server logs. Like most websites, our host records IP address, browser type, referring URL, and timestamps for security and troubleshooting. These logs are not sold.
Contact form. When you submit the form at /contact/, we receive your name, email, subject, and message via contact.php. We use this only to respond to your inquiry.
Local storage. Some tools (for example our free Spelling Bee game) save progress in your browser's localStorage on your device. That data never leaves your browser unless you clear site data.
3. Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic (pages viewed, general geography, device types). GA4 may set first-party cookies or use similar identifiers. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or your browser's privacy controls.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
We display ads through Google AdSense on many pages. AdSense and its partners may use cookies, mobile identifiers, or web beacons to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites, and to measure ad performance. Google's ad policies: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
You can manage personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or via industry opt-out pages such as aboutads.info.
Legal and policy pages (including this Privacy Policy, Terms, Contact, and 404) load without AdSense scripts.
5. Spelling Bee Buddy Chrome extension
Our optional Chrome extension reads hive letters on the official NYT Spelling Bee page to display hints. It does not require an NYT login. The extension may fetch daily hint data from Spelling Bee Hub servers; it does not collect your NYT password, crossword history, or unrelated browsing data. Install only from the Chrome Web Store link on our site.
6. How we use information
- Operate and improve the website and tools
- Respond to support messages sent through
contact.php - Monitor security, abuse, and performance
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information.
7. U.S. state privacy rights
If you live in California or another U.S. state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of contact-form data we still hold, and opt out of certain sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising (AdSense). Because we do not sell personal information, we do not operate a separate “Do Not Sell” portal; use the ad and analytics opt-outs above or email us via Contact with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We will verify and respond within the time required by applicable law.
8. Children
Our site is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child submitted contact information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
10. Contact
