Our Verification Process
Because thousands of players rely on Spelling Bee Hub to reach their daily Genius rank, accuracy is our highest priority. Our verification process ensures that every word listed on our daily answer pages is perfectly aligned with the official New York Times puzzle.
- Data Extraction: Our systems automatically fetch the official puzzle letters and parameters exactly at 3:00 AM EST when the NYT releases the new puzzle.
- Algorithmic Solving: We run the letter set through our proprietary dictionary database (which mirrors the NYT's accepted word list) to generate all possible valid answers.
- Manual Verification: An editor cross-references our generated list with the live game to ensure no obscure words have been unexpectedly added or removed by the NYT editorial team.
- Publication: Once verified, the answers and hint matrices are published. The entire process typically takes less than 5 minutes from the time the puzzle is released.
Hint Ethics & Spoilers
We believe that the joy of the Spelling Bee comes from the "aha!" moments of solving it yourself. As such, we have strict guidelines on how we present our content:
- Our default Hints page never displays full words. We only provide grid counts and two-letter tallies to give players a gentle nudge.
- Full answers are kept on dedicated pages (like our daily answer pages) where users must intentionally navigate to see them.
- We clearly mark the "Pangram Reveal" section with interactive buttons so users don't accidentally see the pangram while scrolling.
Corrections & Updates
While we strive for perfection, the NYT Spelling Bee dictionary is curated by humans and occasionally changes unexpectedly. If we miss an obscure word or incorrectly list a word that was removed from the official dictionary:
- We update the daily answers page immediately upon discovery.
- We log the correction and timestamp the page (e.g., "Last Updated at 8:15 AM EST") to maintain transparency.
- Users can report missing words via our Contact page, and these reports are pushed directly to our editorial team for immediate review.
